Introduction
Ineke Smienk (Utrecht, 1956)
I am a self-taught artist living and working in Harmelen at my studio, "Atelier Levend Glas" (Living Glass Studio). I have been creating art there since 1999.
The name "Levend Glas" is somewhat misleading these days, as various other techniques have been added over time. The studio’s permanent exhibition features highly detailed pen-and-ink drawings, abstract-figurative paintings, and objects made from recycled materials—alongside glass fusing, of course, as glass remains an essential part of my work. Although the techniques vary widely, the common thread is the imagination from which most of the artworks originate.
I remain fascinated by the process of personal growth and the search for new paths; one thing leads to another—a journey of discovery I would not want to miss.
